How did you become involved in boxing?

I first got involved in boxing, after tagging along with my elder brother at local PCYC's 'Boxing Program'

 

Age you started boxing?

I First walked into the boxing gym at age 15.

190cm,

off season weight 80kg

fight weight 75kg - Middleweight,

09 February 1990 - currently 22years old!

 

Fighting styles you have learnt?

I am an orthodox bother, I am a rangy boxer - (long arms).

 

What is your current business/job/location?

I am currently Production Manager for Architectural Cladding Solutions!

 

What motivates you to fight?

My Fiance and family are my biggest motivators!

 

Your Favourite Domestic and International fighters(past and present)?

My Favorite Domestic Fighter would be Kostya Tszyu (Retired) and internationally Vasyl Lomechenko (Active)

 

How has fighting changed your life?

Being involved in boxing has changed everything, I often say boxing isn't a sport it's a way of life! Boxing dictates what i do everyday of the year, what I eat, when I sleep, what I think about, what I socially do, everything revolves around boxing!

 

People that have inspired you not only in sport but in life as well?

Lance Armstrong is a person I look up to as a role model in the sporting world, also in my personal life my mum, she taught me I could have anything in life I wanted, I just had to put my mind to it!

 

Great experiences that happened in your life?

My Greatest experience was in the Final at the Olympic qualifying event, the moment I looked at the national coach and him telling me, I had just secured my ticket to the Olympic games!

 

Your Interests and Hobbies?

Outside of Boxing, I love to be active, I have a very competitive nature and everything is a competition to me. I also thoroughly enjoy relaxing days with my Fiance!

 

One tip or quote which continues to inspire you?

If you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful.

 

Family Background and current family?

2 older brothers, aged 25 and 24, a younger sister aged 21 and 2 younger brothers aged 16 and 10!

I wish to be a great role model for the younger generation, I want to be a person people admire and wish to be like!

My Iphone!!!

Thailand - Phuket

Matt Damon, Lance Armstrong, Kostya Tszyu, Cameron Diaz, Eminem.

 

What one word would you use to describe yourself?

Determined


What is your favourite fighting style?

I enjoy boxing at range, hitting and moving!

 

Training Philosophy?

Go hard or go home, give 110% everyday!

 

Favourite Foods/Type of diet you follow?

Favourite Food = Indian butter chicken.

When in competition - high carbohydrate and protein early in preparation, as it gets closer to competition diet changes to reduce to fighting weight!

 

Favourite Train session plus training spilt(training schedule)

I enjoy strength and conditioning training, as I love to challenge my physical abilities!

 

Describe a typical day

- Wake up 7am Breakfast

- 1st training session at 9am - either track session or strength and conditioning,

- mid morning massage/physio

- 12pm lunch

- mid afternoon, video analysis on self-performance or opposition

- 2nd session 4pm Technical training/Sparring/Partner work/Bag drills/Technical pad work.

 

Worst injury you have suffered

I continually perforate my left ear drum!

 

What is your favourite movie?

To many!

 

What one lesson did you take from your parents?

When one door closes another opens!

 

How do you deal with temptation?

I am a pretty well disciplined athlete, and if in doubt I think would my opponent?

 

What is your favourite music/band/song?

Eminem!

 

Do you believe "never giving up" is the difference between making it and not making it in any sport?

Exactly it - those who give up never realise how close they were from reaching their goals!

 

Have you ever failed at anything? If yes how did you overcome this?

I missed qualification into the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth games, as I lost the final bout to go, I did the only thing I knew and that was straight back in the gym, it was a small de-rail from a big future ahead!

 

What inspired you to succeed?

The feeling I got when watching the opening ceremony at the Olympic games in Sydney 2000, will never forget that chill!!

 

What did you want to be as a kid growing up?

I always remembered wanting to being a policeman!

 

Who has been your greatest rival?

Cameron Hammond - who is now my teammate at the 2012 London Olympics (69kg). He was the boxer who beat me hence qualifying him for the commonwealth games in Delhi, 2010.

 

Fights you have competed in and titles you have won?

I have recorded 106 bouts in my career so far, I have won Golden Gloves titles, State (QLD) titles, Australian titles and an Oceania title - which acted as the Olympic qualifying event for the Oceania region 2012!

 

Future fights planned?

My Next Bout will be on the first day of competition at the 2012 London Olympic Games!

 

What title would you like to win?

An Olympic Gold medal is the pinnacle for my sport!
