How did you become involved in waterpolo?
My dad used to play it, as i grew up i used to follow him down to the pool and watch him play. At the age of 12 i decided i would give it a go.

I loved the water and my parents wanted me to play a team sport.

Light transport solutions manager

Aussie Sharks, Fremantle Mariners & WAIS
People that have inspired you both in sport and life?
Any gold medalist's, as an elite athlete i recognise the sacrifices they have had to make to achieve that result. Particularly those who have suffered adversity such as Lance Armstrong.
Great experiences that have happened in your life?
Every time i represent my country is a fantastic experience and something ill always cherish and never forget
Your interests and hobbies?
Orienteering, Walking, astronomy
One tip or quote that continues to inspire you?
The pain wont last forever but the memory will
Family Background(where did you grow up) and Current Family
Parents were born in New Zealand but moved to Australia in 1981. Had three boys who all currently reside in Perth.
What is your happiest memory?
My game game for Australia against Romania in 2002
What is one thing you would share with the children wanting to follow in your footsteps?
There is no substitute for hard work. If you do the work the results will follow
Who has been your biggest supporter?
Mainly my parents, as a teenager they were there at the early morning sessions driving me to training at 5am then taking me straight to school. Now i would say my girl friend as she is the one who has to put up with the alarm going off at 445AM and the following alarms once i press 'snooze'
Who has been your best coach?
There isnt just one coach i think every coach has there advantages. I have had the benefit of having Olympians coach me right the way through my career and each one of them have taught me something new.
Your typical training split and favourite thing to train?
530-7am Mon - Saturday and 630-8pm Monday- Thursday. Favourite thing is testing my self in the gym
Worst injury you have suffered?
I have been pretty fortunate to have not been injured that often. The worst is a broken foot - i managed to drop a metal scaffolding on it as a 15yr old
What is the ultimate prize in your sport?
Without a doubt Olympic gold medal
What do you find to be the toughest aspect of your sport?
The swimming.....
What is your favourite movie?
Inbetweeners
What one lesson did you take from your parents?
There isn't just ONE lesson you can take from your parents as they teach you so much about life.
How do you deal with temptation?
I give into it....
What did you want to be as a kid growing up?
I wanted to make Lego
Your future goals in your sports, and goals when you finish your sport?
To be apart of the first Australian men's water polo team to win a gold medal at any major waterpolo event. Post sport - To pass on any tips and advice to young athletes that is needed for them to reach their dreams....
What is your worst fear?
Failing
If you could have dinner with 5 people who would they be?
Bill Clinton, Eminem, Lance Armstrong, Steve Jobs, Jennifer Anniston
What is one item you cannot live without?
My Ipod for the long flights
People you would like to thank?
My parents & brothers for their unwavering and unconditional love and support & My friends - but lastly but def not least my g/friend who gets woken up 3-4 times every morning. She puts up with me working and training every day and the trips that can last up to 6 weeks at a time and is always there with a smile on her face when i walk in the door. I can not offer enough thanks or recognition for her support.
