Matt: What emotions does it bring up for you when you hear the word Olympics?
Lauren: The Olympics have always been a goal of mine. I've been aiming for the Olympics since I was about 12. They mean a lot to me but they don't mean everything. I was watching a TV commercial and one of the athletes said "every moment in my life has lead up to this". In my case it isn't like that although they are my goal I have loved the journey and all the events leading up to the games so far aswell. Talking about the Olympics makes me pretty excited though!
Matt: Will you stay up and watch the Summer Olympics?
Lauren: If I have a day off training I'll stay up, and I'll definitely be watching it in my spare time. I am currently in NZ training so I don't think I'll be able to catch too much of it, but I'll try.
Matt: You are a snowboarder which is part of the Winter Olympics, do you get excited about the Summer Olympics Games?
Lauren: Definitely, aiming for the Olympics myself I find it easy to relate to the athletes in the summer games. I know how much hard work they have put in for the last few years because I've been doing the same thing. I love watching them compete and find it really inspiring.
Matt: Is there any athletes you have been in contact with that will be competing in London?
Lauren: No, I am friends with a lot of the winter athletes who competed in 2010 and who are aiming for Socchi but I haven't met any of the summer Olympians.
Matt: Will you be following a specific athlete at London?
Lauren: All of them! I'm rooting for all the Aussies
Matt: Which Aussies do you think have a chance of winning a medal?
Lauren: The men's Hockey team have a lot of hype behind them. Sally Pearson also sounds promising.
Matt: What sports will you be watching?
Lauren: Gymnastics is always one of my favorites. We have free to air TV in our apartment here in Cardrona NZ so I'm not to sure what I'll be able to catch.
Matt: If you could compete or try any of the Summer Olympics sports which would you choose?
Lauren: I'd say gymnastics, because of all the awesome flips and tricks they do.
Matt: Anything you would like to add or say to the athletes competing in London?
Lauren: Good Luck to everyone, you've all put in the hard miles now it's time to show everyone your skills
Matt: What is next for you?
Lauren: I am here in NZ now for 4 more weeks then back to Aus for the mile high and style wars events. That will bring me to the end of the snow season in Aus. Then back to America for the summer!
